Back in about 1988 or so, I was the president of the Bible Study Club at my university.  We showed the movie "Gods of the New Age" to an audience of about 80 people.  Several new age practitioners, Satanists, neo-pagans, and whatnot were in the audience.  I had not seen the movie previously, but thought the production to be very high quality.  Despite this, the movie was not well received, and I was investigated by the local police for promoting hate propaganda, a Satanist stood across the street from my house and tried to cast spells on me, and local newspaper and radio were calling me for interviews.  The ecumenical chaplain at the university even wrote me an open letter begging me to retract/recant the views expressed in the movie.  Needless to say, I did not.  When it got a little too much for this then 22-year-old to handle, a call was placed on my behalf to the producers of the movie (I did not know the call was placed until I got a phone call later).  On the line was a representative of Mr. Hunt, offering to engage legal authorities if it became necessary. That backup and willingness to stand behind his research made this very scared young man realize that there were more for us than against us, and that I really had nothing to fear.  Soon after that, the calls stopped and the people that had been so offended found a new cause to chase other than me.  Though I never spoke to Mr. Hunt personally, I came to appreciate his commitment to the truth, and I became a spiritual Berean as well.  I will miss Mr. Hunt and those that worked around him, but rejoice that he is now in the presence of Jesus Christ.
