In the late 80s my husband and I were attending a church in Bath, England which seemed wonderful to begin with, then we started noticing things which did not seem quite right. People were saying things like 'we are children of the King, therefore we have a right to be treated as princes'. This translated as 'if you are a child of the King you will have lots of money, perfect health and a trouble-free life'. If you patently didn't have these things (and we didn't!), then doubt was cast on your salvation. Greatly troubled, my husband started asking other Christians about this strange doctrine but no-one seemed able to help, until finally he discovered a lady who had recorded excerpts from The Seduction of Christianity and lots of Dave's other works onto cassette tapes, which she let us borrow. Once we started to listen, everything fell into place and we very soon realised that 'Victory Church' was based on the erroneous teachings of Kenneth Copeland. We left the church immediately and, thanks to Dave Hunt, were able to help and advise others who were caught up in the prosperity gospel. I don't need to tell you how very thankful and grateful we were to him. If it hadn't been for Dave we probably would have been sucked into it eventually as so many millions of others were. I was very sad to hear of Dave's death but I know he had been in poor health for a while and it is so good to know he is now safely with his Lord, hearing that 'Well done, good and faithful servant' he so richly deserves. My sincere condolences to Ruth and the family.
