We first heard of Dave Hunt in the '90s, in a (so-called) book review of A Woman Rides the Beast. It was in a christian magazine which we subscribed to at that time (no longer). As we read the review, it became increasingly obvious that the reviewer was not actually reviewing the book, but was just mocking Dave. It was not even in a spirit of warning or love or edification -- it was pure mockery. There was enough obvious smoke-screen in the review to cause us to be curious about the actual book, so we obtained a copy. Needless to say, the book opened our eyes to the mission field all around us - those who trusted in anyone or anything other than the gospel of our Lord. We soon became newsletter subscribers and frequently ordered tapes, too!
We found the monthly newsletters, which we stored in binders with indices, a tremendous resource, and as our children (14 so far!) listened along with us to Dave's cassettes, they also grasped the importance of Dave's burden for the church. The Ex-Catholics for Christ videos made such an impact on our family, and we are so thankful Whatever Happened to Heaven is back in print!
As the years have passed, we have known many dear friends influenced by the trends and false and distracting doctrines of which TBC has brought up through the years. As a family, we are burdened for these friends and seek opportunities to point them to God's Word. And we know to a small degree the difficulty of trying to warn or reprove those who have been caught up in them.
God has greatly used Dave Hunt in our task of seeking to raise children who are Bereans. May we each truly be Bereans in these last days, and may we speak the truth in love.
Let us then be true and faithful
trusting serving every day
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
will the toils of life repay!
