Although it may seem unlikely to succeed, we are to attempt to persuade the entire human race to renounce the Lie and embrace the truth. Yes, the prophecies pronouncing judgment on this earth are unequivocal. But so was the judgment that God told Jonah to denounce against Nineveh: “Yet forty days and Nineveh will be overthrown!” Nothing could be more clearly stated than that—yet Nineveh was not destroyed in forty days or even forty years. Why? God has promised, “If that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I planned to bring on it.” Nineveh repented and was spared. We must work, persuade, pray to God, and plead with unbelievers everywhere to repent and ask God to spare this world its holocaust. On the other hand, if so many people refuse to repent that the holocaust comes as prophesied, at least we have rescued millions who, because of their repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, will not be part of it. That is something well worth expending our lives for.
