Tom: Thanks, Gary. You are listening to Search the Scriptures Daily, a program in which we encourage everyone who desires to know God’s truth to look to God’s Word for all that is essential for salvation and living one’s life in a way that is pleasing to Him. Dave, last week we said that this was our concluding program, but here we are again. But this time I honestly believe that we will conclude this, but we’ll see. We are going through—if you are a new listener to our program—we are going through Dave Hunt’s book, Judgment Day, Islam, Israel and the Nations, and we’ve been doing it for a number of weeks, and last week . . .
Dave: ...in this segment of the program.
Tom: Yes, we don’t want our listeners to think that this is all that we do, just Judgment Day.
Dave: Right.
Tom: Last week I mentioned that since we’ve been discussing the second edition of the book (shows you how long we’ve been going through this, Dave. We now have a new edition, a second edition, and it’s an expanded version), and what we would like to do for our audience is go over some of the additions, which are in the appendices.
Dave: Yeah, Tom, there are additions all through the book, but we added a few new appendices.
Tom: Dave, last week, as you know, we got through part of an address on the US Senate floor by the Senator from Oklahoma, James M. Inhofe, and he gave seven reasons why the Israelis have the sole right to the land called Israel.
Dave: Well, the land called "Palestine" is not only this part of it, but that Israel is in, which is a very small fraction, but actually all of it.
Tom: Yeah, and as we noted last week, those reasons provide a very good synopsis of what we’ve been saying for months on this program.
Dave: Tom, can we just quickly, give the first two we covered—just a synopsis?
Tom: Sure.
Dave: Well, there is a heading: Reason number 1 he gave is: The Jews' Right to Israel: Archaeological Argument—that was the heading. And he says anywhere you dig it’s Jews, not Arabs. They didn’t come there until the seventh-century invasion, and the archaeological evidence for the Jews goes back more than 3,000 years, okay? That was reason number one.
Tom: And an interesting side note there, the Muslims are actually those who have control; those Muslims that have control of the Temple Mount are actually digging up artifacts and destroying them.
Dave: Trying to erase any record of Israel being there. They’ve done that in every piece of property that they have gotten from the Jews. The Second Reason: The Jews' Right to Israel: Historical Argument. And, of course, they’ve had this—they celebrated the 3,000th anniversary of the founding of Jerusalem by King David. That was how many years ago? Probably ten years ago, and there’s no question concerning the history of this land. It belonged to the Jews! They occupied it, they lived there, they had a large kingdom, they had many kings, and the Arabs were not anywhere near there. They were down in Arabia, okay?
Tom: Dave, we also compared their 3,000 years in the land with some of the recent nations. For example, Saudi Arabia was not created until 1913, Lebanon, until 1920; Iraq did not exist as a nation until 1932; Syria, not until 1941. The borders of Jordan were established in 1946 and Kuwait in 1961.
Dave: What you’ve just said, Tom, is very surprising to many people. They think, Oh, these are the old nations there! No, Israel is the old nation!
Tom: Right. Well, that brings up to his Reason #3: The Jews' Right to Israel: Practical Argument. He says: "Historically, Israel gained its independence in 1948. The third reason that land belongs to Israel is the practical value of the Israelis being there." Israel today is a modern marvel of agriculture. Israel is able to bring more food out of a desert environment than any other country in the world. The Arab nations ought to make Israel their friend and import technology from Israel that would allow all the Middle East, not just Israel, to become an exporter of food. Israel has unarguable success in its agriculture. It’s just a practical argument.
Dave: Yeah, and then the Reason #4: The Jews' Right to Israel: Humanitarian Argument. He says, “There were 6 million Jews slaughtered in Europe in World War II. The persecution against the Jews had been very strong in Russia since the advent of communism. It was against them even before then under the Czars. These people have a right to their homeland. If we are not going to allow them a homeland in the Middle East, then where? What other nation on earth is going to cede territory, is going to give up land? They are not asking for a great deal. The whole nation of Israel would fit into my home state of Oklahoma seven times. It would fit into the Presiding Officer’s State of Georgia seven times. They are not asking for a great deal. The whole nation of Israel is very small. It is a nation that, up until the time that claims started coming in, was not desired by anybody.”
In fact, Tom, it was a wilderness, and God said it would be because of His judgment upon Israel. It was only when the Jews came back—the Arabs didn’t even want it—it was only when the Jews came back, and they began to buy land from absentee Arab owners who had acquired this under the 400-year-long Turkish Ottoman Empire, and they weren’t even there. They were absentees. They were living somewhere else, and the Jews began to acquire this land. They paid exorbitant prices for swamps and desert, and so forth, and they turned it into something!
And then, the Arabs began coming in to be employed by the Jews, to feed off of the prosperity that Israel was creating. And if you go from Israel to Lebanon, Israel to Syria, Israel to Egypt, the difference is like night and day. The Israelis have made the desert "blossom like a rose" (Isaiah:35:1The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
See All...). They are producing. It’s tremendous! The other nations haven’t done that. In fact, when the United States forced Israel to pull out of Gaza—you remember? I think we mentioned it on this program. In Gaza they had produced so many vegetables—I mean, it was fantastic—in hot houses. And the Israelis very kindly left this for the Palestinians, so-called, who would take over. And what did the Palestinians, these people who claimed that their ancestors founded this land (and that is a flat-out lie)—what did they do? They descended like vultures and locusts, and they ripped those hot houses apart, just to get the plastic, just to get the metal, and the whole industry was destroyed!
Tom: The Fifth Reason Israel ought to have their land is that she is a strategic ally of the United States. He (Imhofe) states: “Whether we realize it or not, Israel is a detriment, an impediment, to certain groups hostile to democracies and hostile to what we believe in, hostile to that which makes us the greatest nation in the history of he world. They have kept them from taking complete control of the Middle East. If it were not for Israel, they would overrun the region. They are our strategic ally. It is good to know we have a friend in the Middle East on whom we can count. They vote with us in the United Nations more than England, more than Canada, more than France, more than Germany—more than any other country in the world,”
Dave: Again, Number 6: The sixth reason, he says, is (remember, this is a speech on the Senate floor, terrific—this man is a Christian, as is quite obvious. “The sixth reason is that Israel is a roadblock to terrorism. The war we are now facing, and not against a sovereign nation, it is against a group of terrorists who are very fluid, moving from one country to another. They are almost invisible. That is whom we are fighting against today. We need every ally we can get. If we do not stop terrorism in the Middle East, it will be on our shores.” You know, people often say (now this is my adlibbing) often say, "Well, if it weren’t for Israel, I mean, there wouldn’t be any terrorism—it’s our support for Israel."
Wait a minute! The terrorism was going on long before Israel got back in the land that belongs to them. Muhammad declared that every nation must be subject to Islam centuries before these modern events! And if it were not for Israel, if they didn’t have Israel to contend with—wow!—we would have much more terrorism. They would have more time to spend on us.
Since its independence in 1948, Israel has fought four wars, the war in 1948 and 1949—that was the war for independence; the war in 1956, the Sinai campaign; the Six-day War in 1967; and in 1973, the Yom Kippur War, that was with Egypt and Syria. You have to understand that, in all four cases, Israel was attacked. They were not the aggressor. Some people may argue that this was not true because they went in first in 1956, but they knew at that time that Egypt was building a huge military to become the aggressor. Israel, in fact, was not the aggressor and has not been the aggressor in any of the four wars. Also, they won all four wars against impossible odds. They are great warriors. They consider a level playing field being outnumbered 2 to 1.There were 39 Scud missiles that landed on Israeli soil during the Gulf War. Our President asked Israel not to respond. In order to have the Arab nations on board, we asked Israel not to participate in the war. They showed tremendous restraint and did not. Now we have asked them to stand back and not do anything over these last several attacks. We have criticized them. We have criticized them in our media. Local people in television and radio often criticize Israel, not knowing the true facts. We need to be informed. Well, there is more to it, Tom, but anyway, that was the sixth reason.
Tom: Well, thes seventh reason, which is—that is the main reason. He states:“Number seven: I believe very strongly that we ought to support Israel; that it has a right to the land. This is the most important reason: Because God said so. As I said a minute ago, look it up in the book of Genesis. It is right up there on the desk"
I assume he was pointing to the Speaker of the House, his desk. "In Genesis:13:14-17 [14] And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
[15] For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
[16] And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
[17] Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
See All..., the Bible says: The Lord said to Abram, 'Lift up now your eyes, and look from the place where you are northward, and southward, and eastward and westward: for all the land which you see, to you will I give it, and to your seed forever…Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it to thee.” That is God talking. The Bible says that Abram removed his tent and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar before the Lord. Hebron is in the West Bank. It is at this place where God appeared to Abram and said, “I am giving you this land”—the West Bank. This is not a political battle at all. It is a contest over whether or not the Word of God is true.
Dave: Yeah, there is no question about it, and we have talked about that in the past. God gave this land to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—not to the Muslims, not to the Arabs, not to the Americans, not to anyone else. And 203 times in the Bible He is called the God of Israel. So, he gave us quite a lengthy declaration from the Bible concerning the right of Israel to that land. And, Tom, as we point out in this book, Judgment Day, the nations of the world are defying God. You could say they are thumbing their noses at God, because God said, Leviticus:25:23The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.
See All..., that land is not to be sold. You’re not going to trade it for peace, or whatever. In fact, God said, "That is my land, and these are my people," okay? And now every so-called peace program, including the road map to peace by President Bush, what’s the basis of it? Israel, give them some more land, give them some more land—and we are forcing Israel back into a tiny corner. It’s practically indefensible as it is now. Every piece of land Israel has taken, they’ve taken it from an enemy that has sworn to exterminate them, and we have forced Israel to give up this land that they have taken in self defense—give it back to any enemy that says they are going to attack you again. And now we want Israel to get into a tinier and tinier corner so that they wouldn’t be able to defend themselves. Tom, it is unconscionable, it is wicked! It is against the Bible, and it is defying the God of Israel. And as we point out in this book, Judgment Day, God’s judgment is going to fall on these nations.
Tom: Dave, in addition to those adjectives you just used, can we add insanity? This next item has to do with the mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg. In 2003 he appoints Omar Mohammedi, General Counsel to the New York chapter of the Counsel on American Islamic relations to his city’s human rights commission—insanity! Why would I say that?
Dave: Because there are no human rights in Islam.
Tom: Islam at worst.
Dave: Right, but go to Saudi Arabia. But Tom, some people are objecting now, probably, that are listening: "I haven’t heard what we have been saying all these weeks." Okay, you want to argue about Islam? There’s no argument—go to Saudi Arabia. There’s no freedom of press, freedom of speech. This is where Islam began, where its holiest sites Mecca and Medina are. This is where it is practiced as Muhammad intended, and as it would be practiced all over the world if, as Muhammad said, the Muslims had to if they were to take over the world. And there is no freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, freedom of religion. A non-Muslim cannot be a citizen of Saudi Arabia, and no Jew can set foot in Saudi Arabia. You cannot build a non-Muslim place of worship in Saudi Arabia; you couldn’t hold a non-Muslim worship ceremony in secret in your home. If they caught you, you’re thrown out of the country, and if you are a Muslim they will kill you. Every Muslim who converts to any other religion no matter what it is, it's off with his head in chop-chop square, okay?
So now when we say there are no human rights in Islam, this what Islam stands for! There were no human rights under Muhammad—he killed anyone who disagreed with him, and he did that in taking over Arabia, okay? Now we appoint the General Council for the New York chapter of CAIR, Muslim organization on the commission of human rights. You’ve got to be kidding, okay? But we give you some details on that.
Tom: But Dave, it’s worse than that. This organization, the Counsel of American Islamic Relations, CAIR, this is, and the leader of this—these guys have been pro-terrorism from the get go.
Dave: Of course, those are the human rights that they stand for: terrorism!
Tom: Well, Dave, right after 9/11, CAIR actually denied Osama bin Laden’s culpability. They came to defend this character.
Dave: Well, they have been supporting Hamas, and so forth. They support the destruction of the land of Israel.
Tom: That’s why I used the term "insanity," Dave. How can the mayor of New York, right where the Twin Towers once stood, how can he appoint the General Counsel of this pro-terrorism organization to the Civil Rights Commission? What other term could I use?
Dave: Well, Tom, I’m afraid we would have to apply it to our president, only it’s called "political correctness." How can he possibly say Islam is peace? How can he possibly call the Qur’an the word of God and Muhammad a prophet, and so forth? Well, we’ve been dealing with that.
Tom, the next appendix has a number of important news releases and editorial comments. The first one is about the Presbyterian church launching a campaign to gather other churches. There are a lot of so-called Christians joining into this, to get people to sell stock in any company that does business with Israel. Now you know what that does if you know anything about the stock exchange. If you had millions of people suddenly dumping their stock, that puts pressure on a lot of supply and demand, and would drive the price of the stock down. So the whole purpose of this is to force these companies not to do business with Israel anymore. They want to just leave Israel totally isolated and at the mercy, the tender mercy, shall I say, of the Arabs around them who would like to destroy them.
Tom, let me say that, somehow, these Christians who want to destroy Israel because they say, "It’s against human rights,"they say nothing about what happens in Saudi Arabia. They have said nothing about two million being killed in Sudan; they have said nothing about the slaughter of Christians in Indonesia, the burning of three thousand churches in the last three years, and so forth, okay? It’s just incredible, Tom! Incredible! We call it anti-Semitism in the church.
Tom: Dave, one of the saddest events, I think, and well, because we know a person who is involved with this event—it has to do with the Gaza Strip disengagement and what this did to these settlers, and it’s just a really grievous thing.
Dave:
Well, so we have an interview with an eye witness, and he tells us how these people are weeping. They are real Zionists. They really believe this land was given to them by God, and now they are being forced out. Why? Because the United States is forcing them out. Condoleezza Rice, the Secretary of State, the State Department has been anti-Israel for decades—from its very beginning and now they’re forced to get out and turn this over to people who—well, it was tragic. And he tells of families weeping, of fathers reading the scriptures for the last time in that home that they’ve been in for many years. And some of these people were so overwrought emotionally they didn’t have the strength to pack their own bags or to walk out of the houses. The bags were packed by soldiers, they were carried out. But, on the other hand, Tom...
Tom: But,Dave, didn’t the government encourage them to go in and settle at one point? Wasn’t this a major thrust in Israel?
Dave: Absolutely, and this was land that nobody wanted, okay? And furthermore, they became a buffer between the terrorists and Israel. But, on the other hand, Tom, we can criticize Ariel Sharon and we quote, for example, in the expanded edition of the book, the resignation letter of Benjamin Netanyahu, who was opposed to this. On the other hand, I think it was a strategic move on the part of the Israelis. Now they don’t have to protect these settlers anymore. They have thousands of troops in there just to protect these settlers. And now they have exposed to the world what Islam is, what these so-called Palestinians are—let them run the show! Oh, and the Palestinians are complaining, "You put up a fence! I mean, we need jobs! We’ve got to get into Israel to have jobs, what are we going to do?"
Well, they destroyed a major part of what they could have earned by destroying the hothouses. So now we are seeing they can’t govern themselves. Hamas has been voted in as the leader, and Israel can sit back and say, "Okay, you guys, stew in your own juice, and show the world what you would do if you took over all of Israel! This is what it would be like, okay?"
So, on the other hand, I think, a wise strategic move. For the moment they have had to pull themselves back in to defend Israel more efficiently.
Tom: Well, Dave,it was a long haul, but it’s an important book: Judgment Day, Islam, Israel and the Nations. Hopefully, we will be able to put all the programs together for somebody who wants additional insights, personal insights by you, a little help from me—little, very little, now and then—but I just think it’s an important subject, and as you said---
Dave: Tom, I’m hoping this book will shake the world, and I think we mentioned that...someone from New Zealand, was it?...purchased enough books to put in every library in New Zealand! Would somebody out there do that—get them in your home town library! Let’s get this message out. It is the most important book I have ever written.
