Nuggets from An Urgent Call to a Serious Faith by Dave Hunt - Saved, Now and Forever!
Tragically, many who call themselves Christians have not accepted the finality of the cross and the power of Christ’s resurrection. They either do not understand or find it impossible to believe what the Scripture says: “Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him…reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans:6:9-12 [9] Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
[10] For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
[11] Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
[12] Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

As Christ died, He cried in triumph, “It is finished,” using a Greek expression found on ancient invoices indicating that they had been paid in full. There is a blessed finality to the cross that delivers us from insecurity. Christ need never – indeed, can never – die for our sins again. It is equally impossible for those who have been “crucified with Christ” by faith in Him to be “uncrucified” and then crucified with Christ again. Paul declared, “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God” (Col:3:3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
See All...). What assurance for time and for eternity to those who believe the good news of the gospel!
