Roman Catholics by the millions have made pilgrimages to holy sites to view supposed relics of the saints. We cannot even begin to make a survey of the miracles allegedly taking place around the world: the “Eucharistic miracle” (alleged transformation of bread into Christ’s flesh) “involving a Korean seer … during a private Mass celebrated by Pope John Paul II at the Vatican in 1995; Turin’s fourteenth-century “Great Madonna statue,” seen to weep by parish priest Fr. Cavallo; etc., etc.
