Yet Boniface holds a revered place on that long list of popes, each of whom is honored with the title “His Holiness…Vicar of Christ”! In reaffirming Boniface’s 1302 papal bull, Unam Sanctam, the Fifth Council of Lateran referred to him as “our predecessor Pope Boniface VIII, of happy memory.” “Happy memory”? Such is the cover-up engaged in by Rome century after century—a cover-up which continues to the present and with which evangelical leaders have now aligned themselves. And what did Boniface’s Unam Sanctam decree?
“There is but one holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, outside of which there is no salvation or remission of sins…[and] it is altogether necessary for salvation for every creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.”
