Schuller sees the church gradually growing stronger and apparently taking over the world, not leaving for heaven. Many of those involved in the new spiritual-warfare movement imagine that they are thereby helping to take over the world for Christ in the process of establishing His kingdom. Promise Keepers is part of that “warfare.” Early in 1994, Bill McCartney’s pastor, James Ryle, declared, “Yes…300,000 men have come together so far this year under Promise Keepers…. Never in history have 300,000 men come together except to go to war. These men are gathered for War!”
