We are well aware that there are many (and increasing) manifestations of icons sweating oil (or tears, or blood), and of oil or blood dripping from people’s hands, but that does not mean these are from the Lord. This can be (a) the result of chicanery (human manipulation and fraud) or (b) a demonic manifestation—in either event, meant by Satan to deceive. The final word is found in the Scriptures. The Lord has warned against icons; see Exodus:20:4. He has warned that in the last days, some shall give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils (1 Timothy:4:1), seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived (2 Timothy:3:13), false prophets shall rise and show signs and wonders to try to seduce even the elect (Mark:13:22), and people will no longer endure sound doctrine, but turn away their ears from the truth unto fables (2 Timothy:4:3–4). —TBC

"And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."
