The only biblical base for being “slain in the spirit” is Ananias and Sapphira, who were killed by the Spirit because of their sin, and the Apostle John, who fell at the feet of Jesus as dead. A study of Scripture indicates that those under God’s judgment fall backward (1 Samuel:4:18; John:18:6), whereas those touched by God’s majesty fall on their faces (Genesis:17:3; Numbers:22:31; Joshua:5:14; 1 Kings:18:7; Matthew:26:39; Luke:5:12; 17:16 etc.). Nowhere in the Bible do we have men of God, either Old Testament prophets or New Testament apostles, going around touching people to make them fall down. But this is common among Hindu gurus and is called the shaktipat, meaning the “force touch” (Shakti is Kali, consort of Shiva, the “Star Wars Force” of Hinduism).

"As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground."

John:18:6
