New heresies (as well as recycled old ones) and false teachings and false teachers continue to appear on the scene all the time, and being a Berean (measuring everything by the Scriptures) can protect the believer from falling prey to these even before they are identified by some name or description. It is absolutely imperative today, we believe, to be a Berean and to develop discernment as an individual. Continue to seek God. That is our heart’s cry and calling here at The Berean Call: that we would see people developing personal discernment and, like the Bereans in Acts:17:11, searching the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Ultimately, each must arrive at his own position, for each is accountable to God for what he believes, not for what someone else proclaimed or taught.

"These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."
