Apples of Gold - January 21

Many Roman emperors declared themselves deity and demanded for themselves an "honor" from men that could only be accorded to God. The honor Paul instructed us to give to widows is different. Here he is speaking of the physical support a congregation is obligated to give to a widow who has no immediate family to support her. We are also to honor our parents and those in authority. But this has nothing to do with the honor demanded by despots throughout history. that kind of honor we can only give to God. —TBC
