Without exception, the Scriptures teach accountability in a local setting (i.e., elders) and personal accountability to God himself in an emphatic voice. With this in mind, individualism is far more preferable to the growing attitudes we see today. More and more Americans are acquiring the mindset needed for submission to a tyrannical spiritual authority. There is very little difference between surrendering your will and initiative to a political tyranny or to a spiritual one. —TBC
