Get Biblical Understanding #91 - Fellowship | thebereancall.org

TBC Staff

This is number 91 in our series of “Get Biblical Understanding.” In this session we’re reading many but certainly not all of the biblical verses that have to do with fellowship.

Scripture underscores the necessity of fellowship among believers in Jesus Christ. Our faith in Him as well as the faith, that is, His teachings, have set us apart from the world. In being set apart, therefore, we need to assemble together for many reasons, such as encouragement, correction, growth in the Word, protection, sharing, praying for each other, commemorating the Lord’s supper, etc.

Again, the theme of this series is

Fellowship.

COLOSSIANS 1:3-4 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints.

COLOSSIANS 2:1-2 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

COLOSSIANS 4:7-11 All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord:Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here.Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus [John Mark], sister's son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)  And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellowworkers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me.

1 THESSALONIANS 3:11-12 Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you. And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

1 THESSALONIANS 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

2 THESSALONIANS 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet [fitting], because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity [love] of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

1 TIMOTHY 6:1-2 Let as many [bond] servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

2 TIMOTHY 1:2-4 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

2 TIMOTHY 1:16-18 The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
