DAILY READINGS: Judges 6; Isaiah 27; 1 Corinthians 6
And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
1 Thessalonians:1:10And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
See All...
We are waiting for the imminent return of our Lord Jesus. However, our waiting is not passive. We wait by preparing for the wedding (Rev:19:8And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
See All...), by being faithful in our affections (2 Cor:11:2For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
See All...), and adorning His doctrine (Titus:2:7-10 [7] In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
[8] Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
[9] Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
[10] Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
See All...). We wait with patient continuance (Rom:2:7To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
See All...), serving Him patiently (Jas. 5:7), casting aside discouragement by looking to Him (Heb:12:3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
See All...). We wait with hope (Titus:2:13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
See All...), born out of both confidence (Heb:6:19-20 [19] Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
[20] Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
See All...) and joyful expectation (1 Thess. 4:13-18). He is coming. Perhaps today. —George Ferrier
