Teaming Up To Stop Child Sacrifice
ChristianHeadlines.com, 3/23/17, “Pastor Teams Up with Law Enforcement to Stop Brutal Child Sacrifices” [Excerpts]: A pastor in Uganda has joined forces with law enforcement and politicians to put a stop to the brutal and barbaric practice of child sacrifice.
In Uganda, ancient superstition still holds sway over many people. Witch doctors say that the spirits are pleased with the blood of children, so even well-to-do businessmen are kidnapping and killing children in order to attain supposed good fortune. “Witch doctors believe that when you kidnap a child you get wealth, you get protection,” said Pastor Peter Sewakiryanga who was hunting down a witch doctor accused of kidnapping and killing children.
Sewakiryanga says that the brutal crimes happen nearly every month. “The connection is that these witch doctors come and tell people who want to get rich that in order to get rich you need to sacrifice human blood,” explained Mike Chibita, Uganda’s top law enforcement official.
Pastor Sewakiryanga [said] “We want to see that the life of a child who has survived is supported, that they are socially able to stand and heal from the injuries, and that they can have a life after that.”
Suspending Professor’s Ties to Islam
FrontPageMag.com, 4/4/17, “Prof. at Rollins College Involved in Suspending Christian Student Has Ties to Islamic Extremists” [Excerpts]: [A] Muslim Rollins College professor who was involved in the wrongful suspension of a Christian student shows that she has multiple ties with radical Islamic individuals and organizations, most notably...in her position as the spokesperson for the Islamic Society of Central Florida (ISCF). Professor Areej Zufari, falsely accused the student, sophomore Marshall Polston, of violating the terms of his suspension by setting foot on campus, resulting in a disciplinary hearing with the university conduct system. Polston has since been exonerated of all charges after providing surveillance footage of where he really was at the time.
Polston was originally suspended after sending a strongly worded email refuting his professor’s claims that Jesus’s crucifixion never happened and that his followers never believed he was the son of God. Rollins College refused to answer questions on whether they would investigate these claims and Zufari’s potential ties to Islamic extremists.
Zufari served as the spokesperson and Director of Communications for the Islamic Society of Central Florida (ISCF) from 2001 to at least 2004, according to the author bio from her 2012 book “Beyond the Headlines” and press communications from the organization. ISCF’s main mosque, Masjid al-Rahman, is owned by the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), which was classified by federal prosecutors as both an un-indicted co-conspirator in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing case and as an entity that is or was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.
According to the Hudson Institute, NAIT is the title owner of at least 25% of all Islamic facilities in the United States with some estimates reaching up to 79%. ISCF has not responded to multiple calls and emails asking if Zufari still holds a position with the organization.
Legal Challenge to Religious
OneNewsNow.com, 4/4/17, “Legal challenge to religious freedom law continues” [Excerpts]: A federal appeals court is going to decide whether the government can step on the religious rights of Mississippi residents on behalf of a small group of vocal Americans.
Last year, Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant signed into law a religious freedom bill that simply bars the government from violating the religious beliefs of its residents, including business owners. That came after the U.S. Supreme Court legalized unnatural marriage.
Homosexual activists and their supporters filed suit against the Mississippi law. Federal judge Carlton Reeves ruled against it, sending the case to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Bryant says the lawsuit filed against the Mississippi law shows the true intent of activists. The 5th Circuit has heard arguments and will rule in several weeks.
