Although there is some reference in botany textbooks to evolution of plants, no proven examples are presented because there are none. Variety in plant life is simply assumed to be the result of evolution. The truth is, however, that we find no evidence in what is now an impressively complete and clearly defined fossil record that even one of the phyla is either the ancestor or the descendant of any other, much less than any form of plant life evolved into any form of animal life—or that animals ever evolved into plants.
