Dawkins recognizes that what he is saying contradicts our normal feelings when we behold the beauty of nature. This is a damning admission for atheists. It ought to be embarrassing that the theory of evolution is what Dawkins admits is counterintuitive. How could that be? He is confessing that there is something inside us that can act contrary to our genes. Thankfully, genes aren’t as important as Dawkins made them out to be in his first book, The Selfish Gene. We’re not, after all, just flesh and bone bags that our genes use to advance their agenda, as Francis Crick incredibly believes.
