The theory of evolution tries to leapfrog over the uncomfortable question of origins. It starts off with energy/matter already in existence, out of which the universe miraculously emerged, then primitive life, which eventually progressed to what we have today. The question of origins is surely basic. No sound conclusion can be derived until we have an answer to how, from whence, and why life arrived on planet Earth. Science cannot provide this essential foundation for atheism’s only possible response: that life developed by fortuitous chance from dead matter after a “big bang” had sterilized everything.
