Dawkins keeps forgetting, as we will repeatedly discover, what he himself admits, “Darwin didn’t explain the origin of life. . . . There are still gaps in our understanding. We don’t understand how the cosmos came into existence in the first place. . . .” But with the same incurable human pride that drives the space program, Dawkins always adds, “but we’re working on that. . . .” This is his standard escape clause when challenged with questions dealing with the most basic elements essential to a scientific understanding of the universe. Let us just call this mantra what it is—a cop-out.
