Moody magazine promoted this delusion in a cover story about a young woman who, through therapy, “uncovered memories” of alleged incidents of incest and satanic ritual abuse (SRA). She had previously had no such “memory”; it all came out in therapy. After two more years of therapy the patient began to manifest multiple personalities—again created in therapy. The article concluded that several more years of therapy would be required to “cure” the patient, and that it would be extremely dangerous to leave such persons to the usual Christian remedies of prayer, Bible study, and submission to the Lord.
