One wonders why Christ, the apostles, and the early church never engaged in “bringing down” demonic strongholds in their day. That they didn’t seems not to trouble today’s advocates of an appealing ambition for which there is not one biblical precedent. The exciting prospect of victory through “spiritual warfare” has caught fire in the minds of Christians. The principles of Dawson’s book (and of many similar ones) have been enthusiastically and expectantly followed by many pastors, churches, and individuals during the eight years since Dawson wrote it. Yet not one city anywhere in the world has been “taken for God.” In fact, evil has increased.
