Although Scripture does not specifically encourage it, there is also no prohibition in the Bible against appropriate social action in the interests of godliness. It must, however, be tempered by wisdom and suited to the individual case. There is a significant difference between getting involved in politics to the extent that we are in partnership with the ungodly in running the world—and in taking, individually and collectively, a public stand for righteousness by using the legal means at our disposal. All we do must always give top priority to the eternal destiny of souls and not allow that to be obscured by focusing unduly on temporal concerns, no matter how large they may loom at the moment.
