Question: I would like to read in your newsletter your comments on the peace pact between Israel and the PLO.
Response: On the one hand, it is the height of folly. On the other hand, however, it has been forced upon Israel by world pressure. The PLO has not changed. They are still committed, as is the entire Islamic world, to the annihilation of Israel. Therefore, Israel is simply providing her sworn enemies with a base of operations within her own borders!
Why, then, did Israel agree to such folly? She sells about $12 billion a year of her products to Europe and could not survive without that income. It was to keep this trade that she went along with the peace initiative which put her in this untenable position.
Are we seeing prophecy fulfilled? Yes. Though the details of this particular development are not prophesied, it moves the world in the direction of a pseudo-peace which must be established. Paul’s statement, “...when they say, Peace and safety” (1 Thes:5:3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
See All...), indicates clearly that the world must imagine it has achieved peace. The statement that the Antichrist “by peace shall destroy many” (Dn 8:25) also indicates that a time of apparent peace must come. The PLO deal is a move in that direction.
