Uncomplicated Things to Keep in Mind
The Word of God is wonderfully profound, even in its striking simplicity. Here are a few things I recommend we as believers keep in mind.
1) Our infinite God has communicated to us “all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him” through His Word (2 Peter:1:3According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
See All...). Without that communication, finite and fallen humanity is left only with speculations, guesses, and opinions that form the world’s failed attempts at knowing God (Romans:11:33O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
See All...).
2) He has declared His righteousness and our sinfulness and how we can be reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ (John:3:14-18 [14] And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
[15] That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
[17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
[18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
See All...).
3) God’s communication involves instructions as to how our lives can be fruitful, joyful, and glorifying to our Lord. Doing things God’s way guarantees good results (Colossians:1:10-11 [10] That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
[11] Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
See All...). Doing things our own way guarantees bad results (Proverbs:14:12There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
See All...; 16:25).
4) God not only seeks our willing obedience, but He enables us who are willing to do things His way (Zechariah:4:6Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
See All...; 2 Corinthians:9:8And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
See All...).
In summary, God has communicated to us, told us what He has done for us, what we are to do, and then enables us to do what He desires!
