University praised for defending Jewish students [Excerpts]
The University of Texas-Austin student government passed Assembly Resolution 26 declaring support for Jewish students after bomb threats, anti-Semitic social media posts, and vandalism at a Jewish center on campus. The vote came last month.
Tammi Rossman Benjamin of pro-Israel group AMCHA Initiative is encouraged by the message but faults the resolution for failing to acknowledge harassment of Jewish students.
"There have been actions of students connected with anti-Zionist student groups, such as the Palestine Solidarity Committee, which is very active at the University of Texas-Austin," she warns.
The pro-Palestinian organization, she says, has attempted to shut down Jewish events on campus.
