VATICAN SEX-ED SCHEME A "NIGHTMARE SCENARIO" [Excerpts]

A prominent Catholic pro-life group says a Vatican-endorsed sex-ed program must be challenged for many reasons – and has launched a petition drive encouraging opposition.

The Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Family has issued a new sex education project which the pro-life group says places parents at the bottom of the list for educating their children on the subject. Judie Brown of American Life League tells OneNewsNow it's as bad as Planned Parenthood's program which encourages birth control and promiscuity – then urges abortion when birth control fails.

"As a matter of fact, one would have thought that one of the advisers for this program was somebody very deeply involved in Planned Parenthood," she tells OneNewsNow. "That's how bad it is."

It's bad enough, she says in a press release, that the abortion giant "pushes perverse forms" of sex education in public schools – but "for the Vatican to jump on that bandwagon is a nightmare scenario."

Brown points out the same arm of the Roman Catholic Church published an excellent source more than 20 years ago for parents to teach their own children about sex.

"I think there are political aspects at work here," says the pro-life leader. "I think they're trying to fall into the trap that parents are not teaching their children, and therefore the Church has a responsibility to not only get into the question of educating children but to do so in a very questionable manner that completely ignores the teachings of the Church."

American Life League has launched a petition drive to oppose the document. And while Brown says it wouldn't hurt if members of the church hierarchy joined in, she has learned not to wait for them.

"...[T]hey may be the last people to sign on," she acknowledges. "But all of us who have a vested interest in our children and grandchildren and [in] their being educated according to God's law instead of the laws of Planned Parenthood – [we] should get busy and sign this petition and share this information far and wide."
