What Has the Church (for the Most Part) Failed to Learn from Jesus?

In one word, "Selflessness!"

Being "other-directed" is what biblical Christianity is all about…according to the Word of God.

Where it is lacking, it is antichrist—which is spelled out clearly in 2 Timothy:3:1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

Yet during the decades of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, through the false science of psychotherapy and its religious substitute “Christian Psychology,” biblical truth was turned upside down. The most influential church leaders of that time period were not men of the Word, but men of pseudoscience such as psychologist Dr. James Dobson. His (along with a host of others) widely influential teachings regarding self-love and self-esteem are the exact opposite of what Jesus taught.

Nevertheless, THE LIE continues. The latest promotion of this heresy is the doctrine of Narcissism, which fits perfectly with Satan's goal: "For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High” (Isa:14:13-14 [13] For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: [14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

On the contrary, Scripture warns us:
